Oil interacts with the latex of the condom and perishes it in a relatively short period of time. Water based lubricants do not.

Oil based lubricants are only safe to use with nitrile or polyurethane male or female condoms.

(( NOTE: If you use the wrong lubricant and it bursts, remember to seek emergency contraception and/or a bacterial sexual health checkup three weeks later unless symptoms occur earlier – and blood screen for HIV and Syphilis three months later ))
