The New Year Is Coming To Clinic … Are you, too?

May the new year bring you good health, and good cheer, no unexplained or unwanted itches, discharges, sores or ulcers, lumps or bumps – or, unplanned pregnancies.

Ensure you look after yourself – and don’t forget to use a condom (at the correct time – i.e. before ANY genital contact) – not after a quick dip, pull away, then put the condom on… that’s bound to lead to problems!

Follow the instructions – don’t get too drunk to know what you’re doing – and go forward in to the new year with hope, kindness towards others, and good health.

But, if you do make a mistake, don’t put off getting it sorted. Make an appointment or pop along to your local sexual health clinic and see how they might be able to help you.

Note: New year clinics often ‘heave’ because so many people forget to be sensible, so it may take a while for you to get an appointment, or be seen. Staff can only see so many people in a day!

If you can’t be seen that day, don’t fret too much, there will be other days, but if you have symptoms, tell them at reception, so they can try to help further.

But to avoid all this time hanging about, being seen, being treated, maybe having to return for further treatment, etc., take time to get to know someone, both get tested before you have sex together, then, importantly, both stay faithful. Sex is not a game and it’s also not compulsory.

Celibacy is pretty OK, too.

Happy New Year
